I know, I know

I know, I need to update this more frequently. My only excuse is the continuing amount of busyness that I have been neck-deep in for, what seems like, forever. But hey, I am not complaining. I will take being busy over bored (like my old job) any day of the week.

So, happy President's day. Does anyone remember when we used to get George Washington's Birthday and President's Day off? Then the government had to go and combine the two. Doesn't matter to me though, I'll probably never have a job that I can observe any of those second class holidays. Man, when I'm my own boss- which will be one day, mark my words- I'm going to acknowledge all holidays. I'll crack a beer at 11:30 a.m. in cheers to Punxsutawney Phil!

So, I was thinking over the weekend. Do you think America is ready for a woman president? I think yes and no. Here's my thought. The kind of female president I would like to see in office would not be the kind that would probably make it. The kind that I think would make it, makes me cringe with fear (Hilary). But, many think because women are more compassionate, etc. they will not make good leaders. I disagree with that.

A woman's feelings are drastically different than that of a man's, but I think those differences would serve our country well. BUT, I say this. In my opinion, their are few woman who would run for president with the qualities that I like, compared to that in men. Why? I think the kind of women that is interested in presidency is generally not the kind of woman who is compassionate, just, calm, motivating and considerate. But hey, that is just my opinion.

I think that this country is ready for a woman or a black to be president; however, i dont see it happening. I think that if a woman was elected she wouldn't be respected as a leader by presidents of other nations. i know i just took a huge step backwards in the feminist movement by saying that, but lets be honest. If, IF, Hillary were to be elected in 2008, do you honestly think that the Vladimir Putin's, or possibly even the Tony Blair's would listen to, much less respect, a woman in that kind of power? I hate to say it, but i think no....

I think much of the rest of the world is more ready for a female president than many in the U.S. This is evidenced by the dozens of current and previous female heads of states all over the globe. I'm not just talking about queens or figureheads but women who were democratically elected to lead their countries. I'm constantly amazed at how behind the rest of the world the United States is in issues like this one.

how can you hate a man that is doing what is in his opinion is the best for the country? Why is your opinion right and his wrong? You can disagree all night long with what he is doing, but no one knows what is it like to be in his position.

Do you really think that Bush is trying to do implement these actions b/c he can? This is the toughest job in the world and his is just like everyone else, trying to do his the job the best way he knows how.

I dont agree with everything he has done, but he knows a hell of a lot more than I do about the situation, so I trust that he is doing what he thinks is best.

It doesnt help when dipshits like Jimmy Carter have become senile and blast Bush at a funeral and then refuse to shake the mans hand, but we all know what type of president he was.

why dont you go marry bush, then?

Anonymous said...

yeah, bush is doing what is best for the country. how effing stupid can you get?

Anonymous said...

how are you to judge what is best for the country? I think he is a better judge of that.

I dont agree with all that he is doing, but again he isnt doing it b/c he can. There is a reason for everything he does.

Would you rather have Al Gore as your president?

What Carter did at Ms. King's funeral was inexcuseable. He made a mockery of a great and influential woman's last memory. There was no need for him to talk about politics and there was no need for him to not shake the presidents hand after he blasted him. Carter is just covering his ass b/c he knows what a joke he became to people everywhere. I dont believe for one second that the statement was sincere.

Did you hear Clinton say anything rude? No, b/c he knows it wasnt the time or place to do so. Carter has gotten so full of himself it is sad. Does he not remember that he was probably the worst president in the history of the US?

I dont want to get into a political debate, mainly b/c I dont know enough to do so. That being said I HIGHLY doubt that the administration or any others would do something to endanger our citizens. They are not stupid.

I think you have to sit back and believe that the president is doing what he believes is best for the country. What else can you do? Bitch and moan? The reality is that as one person we dont have the power to change any decisions. Sure we can make our voices heard, but how many people do that on a daily basis and rarely does something go their way.

Why would they make a decision that they think would harm the people of their country? They are human and make mistakes, which is evident by every leader we have ever had, but I am certain that every decision was highly thought out by people that are a hell of a lot more intune with the inner circle of the world that I am.

Jesse Jackson is out for his own agenda. I dont believe he honestly cares for the people he goes to bat for. I think he feels that he has been slighted b/c he is black and would do anything to get his ideas across. Jesse is a smart man, but I dont agree with his politics. Most dont, which is why he hasnt been elected to a public office.

I never said you had to believe in what Bush's doing, I simply said you should repsect the man's position and trust that what he is doing is what he believes is for the people of the US.

this is about as intune as "the reverend" is.........

I would just like to say one thing. Yes, Bush is insane and a moron for some of the decisions he has made in the last few years; however, he is not the only one you can blame. Yes, he is human, and yes, he does have the ability to think for himself, but he doesnt. He is listening to the likes of Cheny and Rumsfeld. Those two, in my opinion, do not have the best intrest of the people of this country at heart. I think that they have their own money grubbing interests at heart and they are the puppeteers using Bush to act out the country's 'best interests'.

politics shhmolitics

Paige, just for the record, i didnt say he wasn't to blame, i just said he wasn't the ONLY one to blame...

Why are y'all even debating politics? They are all liars and we know nothing about what REALLY goes on. Well, I guess you debate for the same reason Goat and I do...

And contrary to your point Goat, I'm not in love with W, although he is the lesser of two evils with the other choice being Kerry.

Yeah, I hear you. My job used to be SO boring. I would have loved the blog then. Sometimes I miss those endless hours I spent on the computer. Now I get to yell at 14-year-olds all day!

and it's always fun to argue with robbie isn't it?!?!

Anonymous said...

its not fun for Paige b/c she cant beat me. She did get me once though. Ask her what she did after she realized she won the argument.

I'll take all the help I can get yelling at the little freshman! I told my kids that I want seniors next year. I think they were hurt :-) hahahaa
